In Steve's opinion, it was never too cold to grill, and so he was out on the lanai with his giant puffy coat and a pair of flip flops, flipping steak. (He was also grilling vegetables, but it was the steak he was actually excited about.)

"Danno!" he called back into the house, keeping his voice loud enough to be heard through the glass door, "two minutes!"

"So very into you," he said dryly. "So charmed."

Steve laughed. "I can tell by that slightly repulsed look on your face."

"No, no, this is my turned on face. As you well know." Right, Steven?

Steve grinned. "Well, you have a lot of different faces," he teased.

"And knowing them is all part of bein' my partner." Danny paused. "Husband? We gonna say that or partner still?"

"I think it depends on where we are," Steve said. "I'm not introducing you to perps as my husband."

[hatesparadise]

"Well, of course. Obviously. But we said partner and people got a different impression before." Well. "Other than that dumb couples counsellor at the hotel."

"None of that was my fault," Steve protested.

"I'm not blaming you!" This time.

[grenadesandohana]

"Good, because it wasn't my fault." That time.

Danny rolled his eyes again. "You're ridiculous."

"Finish your dinner so we can sit on the couch as two people and not one person and one yowling monster bent on chaos," Steve said.

Danny eyed him.

"You better be talkin' about yourself," he muttered.

"Sure," Steve said. "I also spent a week sitting in a Christmas bag and hissing."

"I was a cat!" This was clearly revenge for taking so many pictures of Steve as an otter.

Steve grinned and finished his steak. "Yes, you were."

[hatesparadise]

"This better be an amazing steak, is all I'm saying," Danny grumbled, cutting into it dramatically.

"Have I ever made you a bad steak?" Steve asked.

[hatesparadise]

Danny didn't have a smart comeback for that, but he did have a surly look instead. "I guess."

Always good on the steaks, Steve. Somehow always good.

Steve smirked. "I knew it."

[hatesparadise]

"Shaddap," Danny muttered. "No one likes a smug person. No one."

Danny apparently did.

Steve continued to smirk as he drank his beer.

Danny kicked him gently again, digging in. "Mary mention any plans to visit for Christmas?"

So they could be aware of it. And not get caught again.

"No," Steve said, shaking his head. "She also mentioned buying me locks for my gift. She's the worst."

Danny snorted at that. "Well, maybe she needs to learn not to wander in if it's apparently a habit for you."

Don't think he didn't remember that comment, Steve.
