MCA #0, Thursday Evening

In Steve's opinion, it was never too cold to grill, and so he was out on the lanai with his giant puffy coat and a pair of flip flops, flipping steak. (He was also grilling vegetables, but it was the steak he was actually excited about.)

"Danno!" he called back into the house, keeping his voice loud enough to be heard through the glass door, "two minutes!"

Danny put down his fork at that, reaching over for Steve's hand. "Then we got a plan."

Steve squeezed his hand back. "Sofa and shows about good looking people fixing things?"

And making out?

"Yeah."

To all of the said and unsaid.

Steve gave him a tiny smile. "Go find an episode we haven't watched and I'll do the dishes."

Danny leaned over to kiss him for his kind of taking care of someone. "Don't take too long. Got it?"

"Copy that," Steve said with a grin. "Give me five minutes."

Danny snorted, just too ridiculously fond of his goober for his own good. Which was why he lingered a moment longer before going to get that show pulled up and the necessary blankets for Steve's fragile Hawaiian self to be comfortable.

Steve came over with two glasses of pretty decent whiskey exactly five minutes later. "What did you find?"

"Went with the teddy bear episode," Danny admitted, scooting over for him and letting out a little sigh that said he'd thought about grabbing those too, but couldn't make up his mind on it. And maybe also that Steve was the best ever.

So congrats on that tonight.

Steve sat down entirely too close and gave Danny a kiss on the top of his head. "I love those little old ladies," he admitteed.

"It's pretty great, yeah," Danny said, leaning into him and taking a sip of his whiskey. "Thanks, babe. By the way."

Steve smiled. "I got you," he murmured.

Actions were so much easier than words.

Steve was like that. And today, Danny was pretty damn grateful for it.

Because he was just leaning in and enjoying the presence.

As much as Steve had enjoyed Danny's antics as a cat, he'd missed the solidness of his partner next to him like this, and so he was more than happy to snuggle in under several blankets and watch a little old lady with pink hair talk to a World War II era teddy bear.

Sometimes that was just what you needed in a relationship! Because grand gestures were exhausting. Little things, though...

By the time the bear was all fixed up and Danny's glass was empty, he was leaning into Steve like he was a particularly great pillow.

Steve's eyes were a little misty because the even older little old ladies who owned the teddy bears were moving, okay? "You still awake?"

"Still awake," Danny replied with a little sigh. Because that was very moving, okay? It was moving.

[grenadesandohana]

"I love those little old ladies," Steve said with a very manly sniff.

[hatesparadise]

"They did a very good job," Danny agreed, for sure just blinking away some dust. It was dusty in here, Steven!

[grenadesandohana]

"It's nice to see Teddy going back home," Steve said. It was especially nice when it was set to poignant music.

[hatesparadise]

It was honestly the music that was the final nail in the coffin of emotions.

Danny nodded, face still sort of mashed up against Steve's arm. "Exactly."

Steve's arm curled around Danny a little more tightly. "Another episode?"

It was cozy and comfortable here.

"As long as you're not fallin' asleep, old man," he teased to cover up how little he wanted to move away from this moment.

[grenadesandohana]

"Nah, just comfortable," Steve said, smiling down at him.

[hatesparadise]

"Good," Danny said with a little nod that Steve probably felt more than saw this close up. "Another episode."
