It was very weird that they'd been back in Honolulu for weeks now, solving cases like stolen WWII katanas, attempting to arrest bad guys for parking violations only to have them be criminal genius hackers, clearing bad guys-but-not-for-that-crime's names (you're posthumously welcome, Parrish), and the team (and more importantly, Grace) felt like they'd never been gone.

Maybe if he and Danny never went near an airport again, they wouldn't ricochet back to Fandom? Steve took a drink from his bottle of beer and stared out at the waves, mulling that possibility over.

The rest of Five-0 was laughing on the lanai behind him: their celebration on clearing Parrish's name had moved from a bar to his house as some kind of positive re-enforcement for him picking up the tab this time, apparently. They were currently grilling up steaks, so he couldn't get too upset about it.

He smiled to himself as Chin's voice loudly defending Don Ho's artistic achievements reached him on the shore. Apparently they were back to arguing about music. It felt nice to have his 'ohana around him again.

He wondered how long it would last.

"Are you also gonna hit me with them?" Steve asked a little warily. "You're pretty pissed."

"I'm thinkin' about it!" Danny said, scaring off the Porg that were slooowly creeping in close. "And yes, I'm pissed! I thought we got away from this place!"

"Well, if we got away once, we can do it again," Steve said. "And Grace doesn't notice that any time has passed."

Or that new girl Danny was trying to date! Angela? Amanda?

Amber. Her name was Amber. So far. How could you not remember considering Danny was apparently spending sooo much time with her?

Danny huffed, downing a good half of his beer. "And if that changes?"

"Then we'll figure it out," Steve said, sounding sure of himself.

He always sounded sure of himself.

"Alright. You better be there to help me explain it, then."

"I'll distract her with my cool pictures of Jupiter," Steve said. "Or the picture of you in the sailor dress."

Danny narrowed his eyes at him. "What was that, Frog Man?"

Mutually assured destruction was a thing.

Steve shrugged a shoulder, smirking. "I made that look good."

He had not.

"If--when we get back, I'm showing that picture to Chin and Kono," Danny replied. "I'll tell them it's top secret Navy gear."

Hey, he said Navy!

"So's yours, then," Steve countered.

"I'll take that risk."

Chin and Kono would laugh their asses off.

"Of course you would," Steve said, throwing his hands up.

And be completely unsurprised this happened to them.

Danny smirked, at least not looking upset for a moment there. So, congrats, Steve.

"You're such a pain," Steve told him, trying to haul his chair back to the apartment.

"Are you seriously trying to move these chairs with all those stairs? Really?"

"They're nice chairs!" Steve protested. "I don't want someone to take 'em."

"No one is gonna take your chairs!" Danny shot back like Steve was trying to kill him with sheer exasperation.

"I like these chairs!" Steve said stubbornly.

Danny was also fond of those chairs. They were meant for emotional chats by the shore. "Enough to throw your back out?"

"Maybe," Steve said. He looked around. "We could try to just drag 'em back out of sight down here, though."

Since they were solid wood and weighed a ton?

"Fine," Danny said, tossing his hands up. "We can construct a blind to hide your chairs."

"I think of them as our chairs," Steve said.
