Steve woke up, stretched...and touched someone else. He blinked, sat up in bed and frowned hard at the unfamiliar lump. "Hello?" he said, nudging the male, very male, shoulder. "Can I help you?"

Well, this wasn't how Turk had thought he'd wake up. No sir. This was... definitely a new one.

"'s my bed," he said with absolutely no proof to back that up.

"My apologies," Steve said because of course he did, reaching under the covers and hoping his still had pants on.

Turk squinted over at him.

Well, that was a big guy. That he apparently woke up with.

"That's it?"

"This isn't something I do a lot," Steve admitted with a wry smile, "and I generally remember the name of the person I'm with."

"And I am a memorable experience," Turk replied, jabbing a finger at him. "Memorable."

Did he need to enunciate each part of it? Yes. Yes, he did.

Steve grinned. "I don't doubt that at all. Could I get your name again anyway?"

"Bobby Buckmaster." Wow, that was a name and a half on the fly, huh? "And you?"

"Steve Rogers," Steve said. "It's nice to meet you again."

"After a spectacular night, I'm sure," he replied.

Oh yeah, totally your type, Steve.

Well, he appreciated them mouthy?

"Oh, definitely," Steve said with a little snicker, then frowning as he pulled a Navy t-shirt off the floor. Weird.

The Navy shirt that super would not fit right.

"Spectacular," Turk repeated, groping around on his side of the bed to find a button up shirt. Ugh. That better not be a cover identity thing. It wasn't a good one.

At least it fit? Steve looked like his shirt had shrunk in the wash.

"If you keep sayin' that, I'm going to start thinking you're overcompensating," Steve teased.

"I am not and you'd know that if you remembered out special time together," Turk countered. Their special time he didn't remember either.

Which meant Turk was also covertly looking around for a large amount of alcohol bottles littering the place, hopefully without drawing any attention to himself doing that.

Aaaaand came up with a gun safe instead.

"Is that a gun safe?" asked Steve, who damn well knew that was a gun safe.

"Is it?"

YES, IT WAS. AND TURK KNEW THAT WELL ENOUGH TOO.

Wait until they found the grenades.

"Why do you have a gun safe?" Steve asked, getting out of bed and trying to find a pair of pants that fit.

He'd grabbed Danny's, so.

"I think those are mine," Turk said rather than answer the other question there.

Even if cover him apparently dressed like a dweeb.

"You wear button downs and khakis," Steve said. "Huh."

"Yeah, what of it? What about you, Navy guy?"

"Army, actually, and it's just an observation."

"Army." Turky eyed him and his shoulders for that. "Okay, I can see it."

"And what do you do?" Steve asked, finding a pair of sweatpants that nearly fit.

Turk had to look around again for that before settling on, "I'm a cop. Apparently."

That last word was said quiet enough that normal ears shouldn't have picked up on it, but...

"Apparently?" Steve repeated, narrowing his eyes. "Is this really your place?"

Hey, uncalled for, super soldier!

"Of course it is."

"Then show me around," Steve demanded.

"Fine," Turk said, skirting around the guy to duck out into the hallway. Because an apartment was an apartment. "Hallway. Bathroom."

Such a great tour that was him finding the place too.

God, he hoped there wasn't a pet running around here.

Nah, it was terrorizing Ransom.

"I love what you've done with the place," he said dryly.

"Thanks, interior design is a real passion of mine," Turk replied with one of those shit-eating grins as he turned on his heel to face the guy.

That got him a genuine grin out of Steve. "It shows," he teased back.

Hey, clearly that's how it worked picking this guy up then. It all made sense.

"Big fan of--stuffed otters too."

Clearly that one wasn't his fault.

"Well, who isn't?" Steve said, though yeah, that was a little odd. "Who's the little girl?" he asked, pointing to a picture of Grace.

"I--little sister?" He wasn't old enough to have kids, thank you very much.

Wow, someone put in a lot of work to build this cover identity. A lot of work.

"She looks really happy," Steve observed.

[hatesparadise]

"I'm a great sibling." Somewhere, his brother was objecting to that loudly.

Steve snorted lightly. "I'm sure."

[hatesparadise]

"Hey, you're the guest here," Turk informed him, so glad to find a damn kitchen for something to eat.

"And you're getting me breakfast and not pointing me to the door?" Steve asked.

"I'm... ordering breakfast." Cooking? Weirdly enough, not something he cared to do outside of an occasional con.

"I like pancakes?" Steve offered hopefully.
