Steve was halfway through getting ready for Kono's wedding--tux on, bowtie around his neck--when the phone started ringing from downstairs. He ran down the stairs and past Cath in a blue, tight, flattering dress, gave her a distracted smile and reached for the phone. "McGarrett."

He blew out a breath at the news relayed to him. "Yeah. I'll be right there."

Cath's brown eyes focused intently on his face. "Hasad washed up on shore," Steve explained as he called Danny's cell. "Time of death has him gone before we arrested Bennett yesterday. That means the nuke's still on the island somewhere and Bennett knows where."

Cath nodded, bringing her hands up in a way that brought further attention to what she was wearing. "Oh. Dress," he said. "Nice one."

There, that covered all the bases he needed to touch before he could go, right?

Well, Danny was already on his way over. Because clearly he was driving Steve to the wedding, right? Right.

"Bennett's been uncooperative this whole time," he said in lieu of a greeting. "How the hell are we gonna get this out of him?"

"Immunity and means," Steve said, eyebrows knitting together. "We don't have time to play around."

"What do you mean by that?"

Steven.

Steven shrugged a shoulder--and the strapped his service weapon on over his tux pants. It was a look. "It's a nuclear weapon, not just a dirty bomb. Whatever it takes, we have to stop it from going off."

Cath chewed on her lower lip and nodded.

"Of course this happens right now," Danny sighed, tossing his hands up in the air.

"We've got a few hours before Kono gets married," Steve said, heading for Danny's car with an impatient "toss me the keys" gesture. "Better call Chin in."

Danny huffed and tossed him the keys as he dug out his phone to break the news to Chin. They could leave Kono out of it, at least.

If Kono would let herself be left out.

Steve gave Cath a distracted wave and was out the door.

"Guess I'll just...find my own way to the wedding, then," Cath said.

"We'll see you there!" Danny called as Steve peeled out of the driveway. "We will, right?"

"Hopefully," Steve said.

You know, if a nuke didn't go off before then.

"Steve, I need you to tell me we're going to be at that wedding," Danny told him, gripping the 'oh shit' handle tightly.

"We're going to be at that wedding," Steve said firmly, whipping through the streets of Honolulu with the sirens blaring.

"Bennett will be waiting for us in holding."

"Do I want to know what you plan to do once we get to him?" You know. Plausible deniablity and all.

"Probably not," Steve said, pulling into the Palace parking lot.

Danny took a deep breath because he knew that tone. "I'll call Duke."

And maybe the paramedics.

Well, Danny did know Steve well.

Steve took a breath, then heading down to the interrogation room, throwing the metal door open hard enough to reverberate off of the concrete walls. "Where is it?" he roared. "Where is it?"

So it was going to be Good Cop, Mostly Unhinged Cop.

"I really wouldn't try him right now," Danny said, rushing to keep up with Steve.

[grenadesandohana]

"I have no idea where Hasad was going!" Bennett protested, appealing to Danny since Steve didn't look up for negotiating.

Steve snorted humorlessly. "You thought he was going to the bottom of the Pacific Ocean but he washed up on shore ten minutes ago, so now what?"

Danny gave Bennett and look that implied he wasn't going to be able to keep Steve from doing something here with that kind of attitude.

"Wanna try that again?"

"This was never about the money, was it?" Steve said, thinking back to Bennett's comments the day before about the story people would prefer. "You brokered a deal with Hasad so people would think he was behind it. You were always going to set the nuke off."

"Oh, so he really is a homegrown terrorist." Of course he was, this was CBS!

[grenadesandohana]

"Thanks to me, he'd be more famous than bin Laden," Bennett said, smirking. "You really think our government would blame this on an American? I gave them a scapegoat and they'll take it."

Steve was done. 200 percent done. He pulled out his gun and aimed it at Bennett. "Where's the nuke?"

Oh, that smirk was what had Danny not moving to stop Steve.

"I'd tell him if I were you. He dropped a guy in with sharks the first week I met him."

[grenadesandohana]

"I did," Steve confirmed, then shot Bennett in the leg.

There was just so much overdramatic screaming after. "You can't do this!"

"I can do anything I want," Steve retorted. "Look at me. It's called rendition and it's happening right here in this room."

Danny moved to the doorway where Duke was already rushing to check on them. "We got it. It's Steve's... aggressive interrogation."
