Steve had been dragging Danny through the Baltimore Aquarium (look, sharks were awesome, it was just demonstrable fact) when his phone rang.

"McGarrett," he replied, frowning lightly, and then harder as his listened.

"Danno, we gotta go," he said, taking off towards the truck. "The fake feds've kidnapped Parrish's daughter."

Steve held up a finger, then relayed the question. His face turned somber and he shook his head.

Danny let out a sigh. "Well, there's another charge for you two then."

"Enjoy a lifetime of federal prison," Steve agreed.

"I'll get Chin to share what we figured out with the department." And maybe they could get out of here in a timely fashion.

"Thanks," Steve said. "It'll be nice to have this buttoned up."

He put his phone back in his pocket. "Killjoy's sending a squad car. Said about five minutes."

"You're writing your own report," Danny warned him.

Steve gave Danny big, sad eyes.

"Don't even with that," Danny said, rolling his eyes as sirens sounded.

"With what?" Steve asked, still deploying the kicked puppy eyes.

"That," Danny said, pointing at him. "You know what? Go meet the uniforms."

"And this time I have a shirt on," Steve said, like this was something to be commended in some way.

"Wait until you get a rash from the poison oak!" Danny called after him.

The guy on the ground just let out a concerned, "What?"

"I'll be fine," Steve said airily. "Not the perp, but I'll be fine."

"What?" the guy on the ground repeated.

"I'm going to laugh at you later!" Oh, like Steve ever doubted it.

"'Laugh at Steve' is on your nightly calendar," Steve teased with a grin. "I'm not worried."

Danny grinned and shrugged at that. Because it was really accurate.

"Are you people married?" one of their suspects asked, sounding deeply confused.

"Not yet," Steve said with a grin.

Danny shot him an unimpressed look as the locals arrived to take these idiots off their hands. "Putz."

Steve winked at him. "Yup."

Danny waved his hand in a hurry it up motion, but he was grinning. "Get your ass in gear, McGarrett."

Steve laughed. "I'm going."

He returned a few minutes later with two uniformed officers.

"Let's get this settled," Danny said, pulling one suspect to his feet to hand him over.

"Danno, tell these fine gentlemen pretending to be federal agents all about their rights," Steve said.
