Steve had been dragging Danny through the Baltimore Aquarium (look, sharks were awesome, it was just demonstrable fact) when his phone rang.

"McGarrett," he replied, frowning lightly, and then harder as his listened.

"Danno, we gotta go," he said, taking off towards the truck. "The fake feds've kidnapped Parrish's daughter."

"The hell?" Danny asked, tucking the plush otter (that he'd definitely bought for himself over loud objections from Steve) under his arm.

"They're trying to flush Parrish out of hiding," Steve said, manfully ignoring the stuffed otter.

"Well, shit." Danny tossed it in the back seat of the truck before hauling himself in. "We got a location?"

Steve nodded. "It's on the phone," he said, handing it to Danny.

"I'll give directions," Danny said without missing a beat on that. Because he knew Steve was gonna start driving immediately.

Danny was wise in the ways of Steve. He was already pulling into traffic and wondering if he could install sirens into a rental car.

"If you even think about putting a portable siren on this like that rickshaw back on Fandom..."

Yes. Yes, Danny was wise in the ways of Steve.

"That would be such a good idea, though," Steve said.

"You would use it on dates," Danny said. "Left ahead."

"I'd use it on this date," Steve agreed, turning left.

"Ergo, no siren for the rental vehicle," Danny said with a nod. "Right at the light."

"Roger that," Steve said, gunning through a definitely red yellow light.

"Red light, red light!" Danny hissed, bracing against the door and roof.

"That's why I need the siren," Steve said.

"Or, now hear me out, you follow the rules of the road!"

"Kidnapping, Daniel," Steve said. "Kidnapping."

"And we cannot help if we're t-boned," Danny shot back.

"You are a fun-sucker," Steve told him. "Next thing you'll want me to use turn signals."

"I would, in fact, appreciate the use of turn signals," Danny shot back.

"You're so old," Steve decided.

Danny flipped him off, but it was affectionate. Somehow. Just go with it, Steve.

Steve laughed as he sped up (well, as much as he could in a Giant Ass Truck in a city).

"Up ahead," Danny said, jerking his head in the direction. "Putz."

"Thank you," Steve said with a grin. "Jerk."

Danny elbowed him before reaching into the glove box for the supplies he pretended Steve didn't always bring on dates. Like a gun. And cuffs.
