Steve had pulled the plastic totes (carefully labeled) and was de-Christmasing the living room while listening to an audio book about the Navy in the Civil War.

"How's the kitchen going?" he called in to Danny.

Steve squeezed Danny's ass and smiled again. "Damn right I am."

Danny snickered, pressing him more into those poor, poor crayon drawings. "Okay, I'll take that."

"Look at me not making a joke about other things you'll take," Steve said.

"Maturing. Growing." Setting up another joke without meaning to, Daniel?

Steve snickered like someone who'd spent years around guys who made dick jokes. "Growing."

"You're insufferable," Danny said, rolling his eyes. But he really should have expected it.

"You like that about me, too," Steve said, caging Danny in against the fridge and kissing him again.

Danny snorted, tugging on the waistband of Steve's ridiculous cargo pants. Sometimes the stupid height difference made these things a little more difficult to accomplish, but mama didn't raise no quitter.

Steve grinned down at him. "Looking for something, Danny?"

"Nothing big," Danny replied sweetly.

"I hate you," Steve told him, laughing.

"You love me," Danny replied, giving him a little shove. Not enough to get him to move away, of course.

"I love you, too," Steve said, kissing him again.

Danny hummed, kissing him back as his hands pushed up under the hem of Steve's shirt to press against the skin of his lower back.

They'd gotten so spoiled by this time to themselves. "Not gonna yell about the hygiene of this?" he teased, biting high up on Danny's neck.

"You plannin' to do something unhygienic in here?" Danny teased.

Steve smirked at him.

He was definitely planning something unhygienic.

"You fuck up your knee or mine and I'll never let you live it down," Danny warned. But that wasn't a no.

Steve laughed. "I never thought you would," he said, kissing the other side of Danny's neck.

"Just makin' sure we're on the same page," Danny replied, bunching up the fabric of Steve's shirt as he moved his hands up and down along his spine. So very discouraging, right?

Steve sighed and leaned back into Danny's hands. "Aren't we generally on the same page?"

"The finer details can get a little fuzzy, babe," he teased.

Steve laughed. "I've never noticed."

"You like to take the most dangerous route," Danny said, scratching his nails along Steve's back. "And I like to not do that and get dragged into it anyway."

"I take the fastest route," Steve said, shivering.
