Baltimore, Saturday afternoon [NFB]

Steve had been dragging Danny through the Baltimore Aquarium (look, sharks were awesome, it was just demonstrable fact) when his phone rang.

"McGarrett," he replied, frowning lightly, and then harder as his listened.

"Danno, we gotta go," he said, taking off towards the truck. "The fake feds've kidnapped Parrish's daughter."

"Here's hoping," Danny said, sifting through the footage before he reached into the glove box for a kid snack to shove at Steve.

It was a choice between eating gummy sharks or having a sugar crash and Steve would take the gummies, thank you very much.

"Where are we heading?" Steve asked, turning on the truck.

Danny squinted at the footage that they for sure had access to right away. Because this was a CBS show that didn't want to bore you with things like subpoenas or FOIAs. "That direction, looks like they might have been using a vacant home as a stakeout location."

Pfft, that part is boring.

"Roger that," Steve said, following where Danny had pointed. "Maybe we can some prints from the second guy."

"Here's hoping they're dumb enough to still be there," Danny agreed. "Park down the block, yeah?"

Oh, like Steve wasn't already doing that.

"On it," Steve said. "Watch as we go for any car that doesn't seem to belong here."

Other than theirs, of course.

"On it," Danny echoed, slouching a little as he looked around.

"Especially out of state plates," Steve said. "That tends to be a rental car."

Danny lifted a hand like he was offended Steve even felt the need to share that with him. "I am a detective, Steven."

"And a very good one," Steve said with a smile.

"A very good one," Danny agreed. "There. We got New Jersey plates."

"Run 'em and see what happens," Steve said.

[hatesparadise]

"Rental. Taken out a month ago by a company name... getting Chin to run that."

"Thanks," Steve said, pulling the truck into a spot.

"We ready to head in?" Danny asked, taking a deep breath. Next time he'd let Steve stock the car with vests.

"Ready," Steve said. "I go first."

Which was normal, even when they had vests.

"You always go first," Danny grumbled, getting out of the car to fall into line with him.

[grenadesandohana]

"Yes," Steve said. "I'm point."

Control freak.

"Careful," Danny muttered quietly as he followed Steve.

Steve nodded, acutely aware that neither of them had vests on. He rapped sharply at the door. "Five-O, open up!"

Did they have jurisdiction here? Did it matter?

Danny paused, keeping an ear out for any noise from inside. "Backyard," he said quietly, tapping Steve's left to go that way for Steve to go right.

Steve nodded, splitting off with a quick brush of his hand on Danny's back, and snuck around to the back of the house.

It wasn't to hard to spot a pair in suits trying to make their escape. One just leaving the patio door and the other trying to get over the back fence as best he could.

Danny went for patio guy.

"Stop, police!" Steve yelled, springing towards the back fence.

[hatesparadise]

Yeah, he just knew those long, giraffe legs were good for it.

Danny raised his gun at patio guy. "Ah! Wouldn't suggest it."
